Retailers GAME and Gamestation have reacted all services for GAME Reward and Gamestation Elite card users.
Gift Cards have not yet been reactivated, but will be turned back on over the weekend.
The retailer is also urging customers not to rush out and spend all their points at once as it is still in the process of restocking its stores.
A statement issued to MCV reads, “While our loyalty scheme and gift cards were suspended by the administrator during the period of administration last week, now that the business is under new ownership they are being reinstated in full this weekend.
Despite a handful of new releases hitting shelves, the UK games retail market only grew by a fraction during the week ending March 31st.
Sadly it’s becoming a regular occurrence in the charts, and one that’s been exacerbated this week with hundreds of GAME and Gamestation stores closing down.
Games retail generated £12.3m and sold 509,622 units last week – a rise of six per cent. However, these figures were down by almost one third compared to the same week in 2011.
Generalist retailer Argos has ceased offering second-hand video games.
MCV understands this extends to Argos’ bricks-and-mortar outlets, with all stores instructed to stop accepting or selling pre-owned video games.
The company’s website previously allowed customers to check how much credit they would receive for selected titles, but now states: “We no longer offer a video games trade-in service”.
The retailer entered the pre-owned market back in March 2010, trialling the scheme in its North East stores. It later rolled out its trade-in offer to all stores in July 2010.
